One of the most helpful daily oral hygiene routines to which you should commit is using dental floss. Dental floss can reach gaps between teeth that brushing often cannot reach. To make sure your mouth is at its peak oral health, brush at least twice a day and floss at least once daily.

First, look at what type of floss you are currently using. Try to select a brand or product that has been given the ADA Seal of Acceptance for safety and effectiveness. You can also consult with your dentist to learn which products he recommends.

You should use shred-resistant floss. Floss that shreds cannot function effectively. Single filament thread is typically a stronger floss. Use a fresh section of floss for each tooth. You will need to use at least 18 inches of floss to ensure that you are using a clean section between every tooth. You should floss for 2 to 3 minutes and starting at your back teeth.
